Provides free K-12 tutoring for children who are living in shelters, motels, cars, campgrounds, and on the street. Services include one-on-one weekly tutoring, backpacks/school supplies/uniforms, assistance/mentoring, record location assistance, parental guidance, and more. Scholarships are available for participants for extracurricular activities such as dance or music and for secondary educational support as well. All enrolled students receive a new backpack filled with school supplies. School on Wheels has partner locations around the county and also have a learning center located in Skid Row. ****** NOTE Tutoring is available online -to help students/ families from all around LA County to obtain tutoring for their child. In-Person tutoring for children K-8th grade may also be available by School on Wheels volunteers at a site near you.*****

Eligibility: Students must be living in shelters, motels, cars, campgrounds, or on the street and enrolled in school to receive tutoring. School on Wheels also has a learning center located in Skid Row.

How to Apply: To access services for their child(ren), parents/guardians may: 1. Call the toll free number, or 2. visit the main Skid Row office, or 3. speak with any School Counselor or School on Wheels representative at your child's school or 4. fill out the form on the website (parents/guardians only). -----(Click website link on this page) -----School on Wheels staff will then work with parents to enroll their child and get them started in the program.
